Getting married in Mussenden Temple is special. When you come from the bustling German city of Berlin its even more special. Manuela & Michael didn’t just fall in love with Downhill Demesne or County Londonderry / Derry, they fell in LOVE with Northern Ireland. You would not believe the respect they have for our wee country… so sincere and so keen, they both learned and exchanged their marraige vows in perfect English.
Their civil ceremony was celebrated with dancing and drinks on the classical rotunda floor in front of the Georgian windows, giving majestic panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean enjoyed by the few friends who were able to accompany them, so romantic and so intimate. We ‘all’ enjoyed the lavish picnic delivered by Crusoe’s Coffee Shop, dining alfresco on the cliff edge with the Temple towering over us made this an epic experience!
Once refreshed we travelled to the popular Games of Thrones natural phenomena The Dark Hedges in County Antrim. A country lane with serpentine trees forming a tunnel make this such an intriguing and mysterious place, we even managed to shoot some images in a freshly cut barley field nearby these 200 year old preserved Beech trees. On route to Draperstown for the reception we went cross country to soak up more natural beauty. Some heather clad Irish mountain top made a fantastic backdrop with a eerie sense of quiet and peacefulness amongst the wild flowers, such perfect weather conditions made this magical.
Thank-you Manuela & Michael for trusting me to record and capture your Northern Irish destination wedding. It was such a rewarding day to see you with your friends enjoying what our little conner of the globe has to offer. Whether its here or somewhere else, I wish you both many, many years of happiness together and hope your wedding album and movie give you perfect reminders of such a special day.
